You can read and buy books on My Book Hub without creating an account. An account is only needed to write or publish a book.
My Book Hub (my-book-hub.com) is an independent digital books platform publishing original children's books. This policy explains what information we collect from visitors, readers and creators, and how we use it. References to "we", "us" or "the platform" mean My Book Hub.
Browsing and reading books does not require an account. We collect standard technical information (IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited) through analytics, described in section 3. If you use the "notify me" or share-by-email features, we collect the email address you provide only to send that specific message.
Creating a book requires an account. We collect the email address, name and password (stored hashed, never in plain text) you register with, and any book content, cover art or audio you upload through Creator Studio. Account holders must be 18 or over, or have verifiable parental consent, as set out in our Terms of Use.
If you buy a book, payment is processed by our payment provider. We do not store your full card details ourselves.
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the site is used - which pages are visited, roughly where from, and on what device. We also use cookies and browser local storage for basic site functionality, such as remembering your reading progress and preferences on this device.
My Book Hub is, or will be, partly funded by advertising through Google AdSense. Once ads are active, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies to show ads and measure their performance, which may include personalised advertising based on your browsing activity. You can review and adjust your ad settings at Google Ad Settings and myadchoices.com. Where required by law (for example under the GDPR in the UK/EU), a consent prompt is shown before non-essential cookies are set.
My Book Hub's books are written for children, but the platform itself does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
Reading and browsing does not require any personal information. Accounts (needed only to create or publish a book) require the account holder to be 18 or over, or to have verifiable parental consent. If we become aware that a child has provided personal information to us without appropriate consent, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who believes their child has provided us with personal information can contact us using the details in section 9 to have it removed.
We use the information described above to operate and improve the platform, process purchases, respond to messages, keep accounts secure, and (once approved) serve relevant advertising. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, including hashed passwords and restricted access to uploaded content. We keep account and purchase information for as long as the account is active and as needed to meet legal and accounting obligations.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or request deletion of your personal information, or to object to certain uses of it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
We may update this policy from time to time; the date at the top shows when it last changed. Material changes will be notified to registered users by email.
