A peek inside
Sam and Zoe open a bright lemonade stand. Sam wears a yellow apron and smiles. They want to learn about coins so they can take money from their first customers today.
A kind customer gives Zoe a shiny penny. A penny is worth one cent. Zoe drops the small brown penny into her coin pouch and says thank you.
Next, Sam holds up a bigger silver nickel. A nickel is worth five cents. Five pennies equal one nickel, and Sam feels proud to know that.
Zoe finds a thin silver dime in her pouch. A dime is worth ten cents. Ten pennies make one dime, and that is a fun fact to share.
A happy customer pays with a large quarter. A quarter is worth twenty-five cents. Sam and Zoe clap because the quarter is their biggest coin yet.
Sam lines up one penny, one nickel, one dime, and one quarter. They see which coins are worth more. The quarter is worth the most of all four coins.
Their lemonade costs ten cents for one cup. A dime pays for one cup of lemonade. Zoe smiles as she takes a dime and pours a cold drink.
