A peek inside
In the bustling market beside the great Nile River, young Amun hurried between spice stalls. His linen kilt fluttered as he clutched a reed pen and papyrus. The air smelled of cinnamon and fresh bread. Amun was a keen-eyed scribe, and today he had an important task. Somewhere among the temple shadows waited a mystery only he could solve.
A sleek temple cat with golden eyes leaped onto a wooden crate beside him. 'Bast!' Amun whispered, smiling as the cat flicked her tail toward a crumpled scrap of papyrus on the dusty ground. Amun picked it up carefully. Etched upon it was half a royal cartouche—the sacred oval that held a pharaoh's name. The other half was missing.
