A peek inside
Pink cherry blossoms drifted like soft confetti over the busy streets of Kyoto. Hana hurried between market stalls, her fingers still stained with bright kite ink. Today was the spring festival, and her finest creation waited at home. She smiled at the fluttering banners and the sweet scent of roasted chestnuts. Somewhere above the rooftops, the wind whispered of adventure.
Hana reached her workshop and froze. The golden dragon kite was gone! Only a torn scrap of shimmering paper lay on the floor. Her heart thumped hard against her ribs. Without that special kite, the gentle spring winds might never arrive. She clutched the scrap and stepped back into the crowded festival street, determined to find what was stolen.
