A peek inside
Juniper the rabbit hops into the sunny garden wearing a soft leaf scarf. Ahead lies a pretty path made of stripes and spots. Juniper smiles and wants to follow it today.
The path goes stripe, then spot, then stripe, then spot. That is the repeating pattern on the ground. Juniper claps her paws and says the pattern out loud.
Juniper hops on a stripe. Then she hops on a spot, and then she hops on a stripe again. The pattern is working just right so far.
And then she hops on a spot. And then she hops on a stripe and giggles with joy. The stripe spot path feels easy and fun to follow.
Suddenly Juniper stops and sees two spots side by side. That does not match the pattern at all. Her ears wiggle as she looks again carefully.
The pattern should be stripe, spot, stripe, spot every time. After a stripe must come a spot. After a spot must come a stripe, so two spots is wrong.
Juniper points with her paw. Here is the mistake on the path where one spot sits in place of a stripe. She has spotted the broken part.
