A peek inside
Ben walked into the bright dental surgery holding Mom's hand. He was a curly-haired boy with wide curious eyes, and today he felt a little nervous. Colorful fish tanks bubbled along the walls, and orange and blue fish swam past green plants. Soft music played, and posters of smiling kids covered the walls. Ben squeezed Mom's hand tighter. “What if it hurts?” he whispered. Mom smiled gently. “Dr. Joy is kind, and she will show you everything,” she said. Ben looked at the swimming fish and took a deep breath. He wanted to be brave for his first check-up. The waiting room smelled clean and fresh. A friendly receptionist waved. Ben sat on a soft blue chair and watched the fish dart back and forth while he waited for his name to be called.
“Ben, Dr. Joy is ready for you,” called the receptionist. Ben stood up and walked down a short hallway. Dr. Joy waited by an open door. She was a smiling female dentist in bright green scrubs with a cheerful badge that said her name. “Hello, Ben! Welcome to my dental home,” she said warmly. Ben peeped into the room. A big chair that could go up and down sat in the middle. More fish tanks glowed blue beside a window. Tools rested on a tray, but they looked shiny and clean, not scary. “I feel a bit wobbly,” Ben said softly. Dr. Joy nodded. “Lots of kids feel that way at first. Today we will look at your teeth, talk about brushing, and you will leave feeling proud.” Ben's shoulders relaxed a little. He climbed into the big chair carefully.
