A peek inside
Somewhere between the blazing Cape Town sun and the perpetually grey skies of South London, two brothers maintained a sacred ritual: a daily video call that their respective time zones made absolutely ridiculous. Garth Moneybrain McWifi sat shirtless on his balcony, Table Mountain looming behind him like a smug postcard. Dale Stockmarket Snollygoster hunched over his desk in Odiham, Hampshire, wrapped in a hoodie so thick he resembled a very opinionated caterpillar. 'Brother,' Garth announced, adjusting his laptop with the gravity of a UN ambassador, 'I have conceived our greatest idea yet.' Dale sipped his tea, one eyebrow already raised in pre-emptive scepticism. Between them stretched eight thousand miles of Atlantic Ocean and approximately zero shared common sense. The call connected. The chaos began.
'An AI,' Garth declared, spreading his arms wide enough to nearly knock his laptop off the table, 'that predicts the stock market using nothing but vibes and weather data.' Dale stared. A seagull shrieked somewhere outside his window, as if personally offended. 'Garth,' Dale said slowly, in the careful tone one uses with excitable Labradors, 'that is not how markets work. That is not how AI works. That is not how weather works.' Garth waved this away. 'Details, Dale. Details are for accountants. We are visionaries.' Dale opened a fresh spreadsheet - his emotional support document - and began typing furiously. The spreadsheet was titled: REASONS THIS WILL FAIL (VERSION 47). Garth named their hypothetical company SunVibeCapital. Dale added it to the spreadsheet under a column marked: Names That Will Age Poorly.
