A peek inside
Nadia walked into the grand city museum with her class. She wore her school backpack and had neat braided hair. The fossil hall felt quiet and cool. Tall glass cases held old bones and stone prints. Soft light fell across the polished floor. Nadia stopped beside a special display table covered with fresh soil. A tiny glimmer caught her eye near the edge. “What is shining there?” she whispered to herself. Her heart beat a little faster with curiosity. She leaned closer without touching anything. The soil looked newly placed for a real discovery lesson. Today her class would learn how scientists find dinosaur bones. Nadia hoped she might see something wonderful.
Curator Vale stepped beside the table with a gentle smile. He was an older man who wore glasses and spoke softly. “Welcome, young explorers,” he said. “Fossils are the remains of plants and animals that lived long ago.” Nadia pointed carefully at the tiny glimmer. “I see a little claw shape,” she told him. Curator Vale nodded. “Good eyes. That may be part of a baby dinosaur bone.” He explained that real fossils form when bones are buried under mud or sand for a very long time. Minerals slowly replace the bone and turn it hard like stone. The class listened. Nadia felt proud she had spotted the first clue.
