Jasper stood on the wooden porch of Granny Elowen's countryside cottage. He was a curious young boy with messy brown hair and soft blue pajamas covered in tiny stars. The evening air smelled of pine trees and fresh grass. Birds chirped their last songs before night. Jasper loved these visits more than anything. He carried his small backpack full of books and a favorite stuffed rabbit. The cottage windows glowed with warm yellow light. Inside, he knew there would be soft blankets and kind hugs. He took a deep breath and smiled at the quiet fields around him. Something special always happened here. Tonight felt full of gentle surprises waiting just inside the door.
The door swung open with a gentle creak. Granny Elowen stood there, a kind elderly lady with silver hair and a warm smile. “Come in, Jasper,” she said. “The kitchen smells ready for cookies.” Jasper hugged her tightly and followed her inside. Golden light filled the room from a hanging lamp. Bowls of flour, sugar, and chocolate chips waited on the wooden table. “I want to help mix everything,” Jasper said. Granny gave him a spoon. He stirred with big circles, but flour puffed up in a white cloud all over his face. He coughed and laughed. The dough felt too dry this time. “It will not stick together,” he said with a frown. Granny patted his shoulder. “We can fix it together.”
