A peek inside
In a lush green valley millions of years ago, tall ferns waved in the warm breeze. Soft moss covered the ground near a quiet stream. A round egg sat in a sunny nest of leaves. Inside the egg, something wiggled. A tiny crack appeared on the smooth shell. A small nose pushed through. Then three tiny horns peeked out. The baby triceratops named Trike blinked at the bright light. He loved the soft warmth of his nest already. Birds sang high in the trees. Butterflies danced over bright flowers. Trike stretched one little leg out of the shell. The air smelled like fresh rain and green plants. He wondered what waited beyond his cozy egg.
Trike pushed harder with his strong little legs. The shell broke into pieces around him. He tumbled onto the soft moss and stood up on wobbly feet. The valley stretched out wide and green in every direction. Tall trees reached toward the blue sky. A gentle stream bubbled nearby. Trike took his first steps. His feet sank a little in the damp earth. He tried to run toward a bright flower but tripped over a root. He landed with a soft thump. “Oof,” he said. He scrambled up again. A dragonfly zipped past his nose. Trike followed it toward a hill. He wanted to see everything at once. The world felt big and full of surprises waiting just ahead.
